We are delighted to announce that the Madrid City Council is the opening of submissions for the IV edition of the Margarita Salas Awards. These awards aim to recognize exceptional doctoral theses defended at universities located in the Community of Madrid, celebrated for their scientific excellence, the significance and scientific impact of the topic, as well as the practical applications of the research content.
In this edition, the previously known Margarita Salas Research Awards and the Talent and Technology Awards are combined into a single joint call. Awards will be presented in the following categories: Basic Sciences, Life Sciences, and Applied Technology.
The following prizes will be awarded in each category:
- First Prize: €16,000
- Second Prize: €12,000
- Third Prize: €8,000
- Fourth Prize: €4,000
Additionally, up to six honorable mentions may be awarded, each with a monetary award of €1,500, distributed at the discretion of the jury among the different categories of theses.
Deadline for submissions:
April 5, 2024, to May 13, 2024 (inclusive).
Who is eligible to apply:
Candidates for the 2024 Scientific Research and Technological Development Awards must have defended their doctoral thesis at one of the universities in the Community of Madrid, provided that they were defended and graded between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023.
